"The Witch Saga continues"

Films: Inferno (1980)

Alias: The Mother of Darkness

Type: Mystical

Location: Haunted Home

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: Remember Helena Markos from a couple years ago? Well, that was only one out of three of the "Mothers" that represent the worst of witchcraft. Here, we have the youngest out of them, Mater Tenebrarum.

History: The Mother of Darkness, Tenebrarum lived in New York City, operating mainly from the shadows. She was also the one who got to keep Vareli, the architect tricked into building the mothers' lairs. In her secluded home, she orchestrates the deaths of the many living their daily lives, condemning them to cruel and unusual demises. Those who try to trail it to her are often dealt with quickly.

Notable Kills: As if unleashing a group of hungry rats onto a person wasn't enough, she possesses a hot dog vendor into stabbing him to death as well.

Final Fate: Just as Tenebrarum has a major investigator in her clutches, a fire started by one of her victims destroys her home with her in it. She sadly says how it all burned like last time, referencing the fate of Markos, before she's taken out by the flame.

Powers/Abilities: None

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-Out of all the Mothers, Tenebrarum stands out as the most sadistic. There may not be any pools of barbed wire, but there are violent glass decapitations and rat assaults all around. Some argue that she's Death itself, though even the Reaper probably hates her too.

Trivia: -Out of all his films, Dario Argento considers this to be his least favorite, mainly due to how he suffered Hepatitis midway through production.

-That creepy music student in the film? That was Mater Lachrymarum, the final Mother, and a figure we'll see a couple decades later...

You thought the nightmare was over, but we're at least at the halfway mark.

GAH! Papyrus' ex!

There's a snake in your sockets!

Now, that's just indecent AND horrifying.

The grim reaper is shaking his head at this.

Never deny the power of a Mater. I mean, there's always hope, but still.

Ever heard of the phrase 'burn the witch'? Yeah, even I think it's in bad taste.
